Here's a theory for you all.

I believe that Microsoft put the security holes in Windows, Office, IE etc. on purpose so that they can make more money.

What do you think of this theory? :nerdy:

You obviously don't know the meaning of the word theory, as you seem to have it confused with a fact... :P

They're just like doctors.. ooh, I don't trust doctors. If they cure you, they do themselves out of a job, so they just try and keep you alive and sick for as long as possible.

Totally. If everything worked fine, how would they convince you to upgrade?

Also.... do you ever suspect that MS pay people to create viruses to 'test' the security patches? 8O

Dunc

Knowing Microsoft's ethical standards (very few) they probably made the software that the 9/11 hijackers used to... dear god!

How does that figure in? Microsoft builds a flight simulator so ANYONE even an escaped mental patient can learn how to hijack ANYTHING on Planet Earth... the whole program is laced with ideas!

And Bill Gate's father made the bullets that killed JFK! IBM made the machines that the Nazis used!

There's a difference between a conspiracy and incompetence... Microsoft is merely incompetent... like the Soviet Union only with computer software...

I agree that Micro$oft is trying to make more money out of security holes.

I totally agree. I've thought this for a while actually. I think when they release a new version it's never completly finished - on purpose - that way you have to buy the upgrades later on.

oh dear. i'm not a great believer in conspiracy theories, at least, not in the sense of "they're out to get me". feste-fenris is right - an awful lot of what conspiracy theorists would have us believe we should be quaking in our boots about is down to incompetence

freemasons and secret societies - i very much doubt they're really out for world domination. after all, the paths to world domination are well trodden and obvious. perhaps the real purpose of conspiracy theories is to encourage you to look away from the REAL sources of power and domination and the real problems in this world - hunger, all the "isms", environmental disaster and pollution, violence, reliance on drugs... i'm sure you can fill in the rest.

conspiracy theories, then, may be about "why don't you worry about this instead of the real worries?", i.e. don't stick your neck out, keep quiet. divide and conquer? let's face it - most people in power couldn't give a toss about ordinary people, as long as they vote at the right times.

I don't think they are out to get us, but I do think that certain groups have motivations that are severely evil.

I vote freedom
I vote for humanity
I vote for understanding
I vote against ignorance
I woudl have voted against bush
I vote against corruption in power
I vote against hate and war.
I vote against imposing ones religious beliefs.
I vote for seperation of church/state (if you support one, you should support them all).
I vote for ethics and morals (virtues, honor).
I vote for doing the right thing because it is right, (not beause of god or man or society. not for the "reward")
I vote against mindlessness
I vote against following traditions/leaders blindly.
I question athority.
I vote against violence.
I vote against cults.
I vote against the "no child left behind" because of how it waters down education.
I vote against standardized testing, because that just makes schools teach about the tests, and not on the topics.
