Yes, happy birthday Orwell. Most certainly one of the best debaters on WP. And hes coming of age. Just think, one year and you'll be 21  .

I use to think Orwell was an old man before I glanced his age when I first joined WP.

Happy Birthday Orwell. You are a great friend, and I feel I have known you longer than the year we have been talking.

Ha I refuse to take the international dateline into consideration, if you must lag half a day behind don't expect me to compensate for your tardiness :P

Does anyone mind it if I suggest that Orwell was not born at all? I mean, think about it: has anyone here witnessed Orwell's birth? I doubt it. Is it also possible that Orwell wasn't born? Well of course. I'd like to suggest that Orwell spontaneously popped into being 5 minutes ago.

As philosopher Bertrand Russell once said: "There is no logical impossibility in the hypothesis that the world sprang into being five minutes ago, exactly as it then was, with a population that "remembered" a wholly unreal past. There is no logically necessary connection between events at different times; therefore nothing that is happening now or will happen in the future can disprove the hypothesis that the world began five minutes ago."

1) The world could have popped into being 5 minutes ago,
2) Therefore, Orwell, a part of the world could have popped into being 5 minutes ago
3) God exists
4) God, because He is omnipotent, omniscient, and maximally good created the best possible world
5) The best possible world has interesting things.
6) A person that popped into existence 5 minutes ago is an interesting thing
7) Orwell is a person
8 ) Therefore, Orwell popped into existence 5 minutes ago.

QED

This means that this isn't Orwell's birthday, but rather the day that Orwell first popped into being.

Like a soap bubble? Does that mean he could pop out again any moment? Are we in danger of losing our most reasonable theist, the man who gives Christianity a good name? What a frightening thought!

Have a good popping day, Orwell. In, of course.

Aha!
1) Orwell is a person
2) Orwell exists
3) Therefore, at least one person exists
4) There are other beings similar to Orwell that can also be referred to as persons
5) Therefore, people exist.

Orwell is a smartass. I'm kind of jealous of his extensive knowledge of everything. My mind simply cannot absorb information on such a variety of topics...

But ignoring the jealousy... Happy birthday, Orwell!

I never said they were like you. After all, did they spontaneously pop into being 5 minutes ago??

Fine, I've truncated my argument in the above quote pyramid.

Ok. You weren't there when I first made the argument. You only popped into existence 5 minutes ago.
