The "Psycho" movies are by far the best series of horror movies.

I love horror films but they're sub-genres within the horror genre.

A lot of pulpy horror films are the equivalent of popcorn flicks (For example; the spate of remakes of slasher films are the horror equivalent of Dean Devlin's World-disaster films).

The best horror films IMHO convey at least an interesting concept, mood or story.

Elm Street 1 and 3 (amazing concepts)
Hellraiser (story)
Night of the Living Dead / Dawn of the Dead (moral and political concepts)
Exorcist (mood)
The Ring (mood)

anyway, here's a link to a list of my favourite horror films...
