Hi. I have to do a presentation in my speech class on a non profit organization. The Professor wants us to do one that we're passionate about and I want to do one about Asperger's Syndrome, being an aspie myself. The problem: I can't for the life of me find a non profit organization that deals with (soley or mainly) Asperger's Syndrome. Does anyone know of any and if so, please reply to this post? Any help will be most appreciated. The presentation is due tomorrow. Yes, I procrastinated (runs in the family :P). Thanks! -Power Girl

GRASP - http://www.grasp.org/ - the Global and Regional Asperger Syndrome Partnership. At least "Asperger" is in the name - but I think you'll be hard-pressed to find an organization that doesn't make an attempt to include others on the spectrum, since the lines are awfully blurry between different diagnoses with common characteristics. Most groups just say "autistic spectrum" and leave it at that.

I just received this from GRASP:

Subject: Free Autism Manual for Educators

You can read the original version online:

-----------------------------------------

All:

Please note that the document provided by the NAC may not be perfect,
nor will it be current in 3 years or so. But for what it is, the
educational world thus far seems very impressed with its thoroughness.
And the fact that it's free...priceless.

This manual, which was specifically created for educators as a means of promoting evidence-based practice for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in schools, is drawing much interest from the special education community nationally and globally.

You can download the manual for free or purchase a hard copy for $24.95.
You can go to this link for the steps to follow:

National Autism Center

I checked the link and it is good. A name, an e-mail address and a location are required to access the download. It looks to me like this manual could be useful for parents or other folks here on WP.
