Turkey to Give All Citizens Government-Controlled Email Accounts at Birth
Turkish officials aim to launch their own search engine and government-issued e-mail accounts

Istanbul is Watching Turkey's government wants to keep a better eye on its citizens.

Time to shake off that post-Thanksgiving tryptophan daze and see what the other Turkey has been doing. Turns out those Turkish officials have begun working on two Internet projects: a Turkish search engine that aims to address Muslim sensitivities, and government-controlled e-mail accounts for all 70 million Turkish citizens.

Google would still likely reign supreme as far as Web services, but the chairman of Turkey's Information Technologies and Communication Board has bet that Muslim countries would prefer using a Turkish search engine that eliminates info that leaders might find offensive. That could range from politically sensitive topics to smut......

Ever get the feeling that invasive government has the same consequences as invasive parenting?

Pasha Bey brother is watching.

I assume the brighter citizens of Turkey will develop a code that is hard to for the Pashas to break.

For example Allah hu Akbar! (note the "!") really means "screw Allah!" or referring to Mohammed (PBUH) the PBUH means pus and blisters upon him. Etc. etc. etc.

Turkish internet is a mess. It seems someone runs a constant malware attack, worms, trojans.

I have to do business through Fax. This plan is a National Firewall, it will block attacks.

Nothing stops a Turk from having another email, but it will stop the incoming constant attack.

These attacks are also directed outside the Islamic world, so China may end up doing the same.

A little international cooperation might preserve the World Wide Web which the attackers fear, people talking to people weakens hate groups.

The answer is, in some countries their internet should end at their borders, as they have a history of using the web for cyber attacks. Some countries should just be banned.

Turkey has been our best alley in the region through some trying times, besides cyber attacks there have been bombs, people died, and Turkey has stood fast with America, and with Europe, and paid a price in blood.

The cyber attacks have mostly been directed at our business ties, Turkey wants to join the European Union, and with Algeria, has very strong ties to the west. Algeria gave every family a computer and broadband. Most are French speaking, 162 years of forced French, and look north to business ties.

Some religious groups do not want a larger intergrated world, so they turn to terror. If that is their religion, they should be isolated, hunted, and extirminated.
