I did a project on prosthetics for science in grade 10, and I found it interesting how legs were much more far along technology wise then arms. I'm glad to know that there is progress being made here!

^^ I'm waiting impatiently for this day when bionic limbs exceed real ones. I'd be the first one to sacrifice my arms!

It's so amazing, what we can come up with to adapt to things like disability. And that robohand definitely looks cool. But would you rather have a fully-functioning artificial limb, or a natural one that could regenerate itself (not sure whether this link will work):

U.S. military can regrow human limbs, organs

The thing is nerves are different, flesh/bone doesn't regrow if it doesn't have thee support (barring other factors like nourishment), but I think nerve damage would require stem cells as well.

Another problem is the length of time it takes to regrow a whole limb (inconvenience factor), and whether there would be any developmental problems like contractures, etc.

Nice. I wonder how long it will take for the technology to advance to the pint where a user can do this? :D
