"London Calling" by The Clash
Any music by U2

With the exception of these guys ("western swing"? Intriguing), all the bands mentioned so far are pretty big and widely-respected. I mean plenty of people hate them too, but all famous music is hated by plenty of people.

There's some music I really like that isn't very well-known, and thus not something that "everyone else" hates because generally people haven't heard it, but if I put it on in a party it would probably clear the room.

Some widely-hated music I really enjoy:

The Shaggs
Some nu-metal music like Slipknot and Limp Bizkit, but strictly the early stuff from either
The first White Zombie album
Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music
Zweistein

Metal - The people who bash away on instruments making noise with somone screaming or growling to make it 'music'

That's my parents analysis of it.

Skinny Puppy, my wife can't stand em. Depeche Mode, everybody says they're "gay," All I ever wanted, all I ever needed is here in my arms. That's kind of enlightenment in a nutshell.

Well, with the exception of Lada Gaga, I like all those listed. Of course, Mika and P!ATD are my equivalents to LG. The artists that I like that none or few others seem to are John Cage, Philip Glass, Raymond Scott and William Keller.

I didn't know everyone hated Depeche Mode so much. :?

I am a Phil Collins fan myself. I tend to like the "smooth" music from the 80s that annoys everyone else. Oh... let's not forget I love Wilson Phillips.

Depeche Mode FTW. The only person I've met who hates Depeche Mode is my father.

I really love hip-hop but most people my age seem to hate/misunderstand it. *shrug*

I like indie/acoustic jazz/acoustic pop, and I know virtually nobody who likes those things.
