Anything that comes up. I really like talking about music, though, and explaining my views on it. How it's different knowing about your instrument than it is knowing your instrument. And other stuff of that nature.

And Lady GaGa ;]

Luckily one of my special interests is my job, so I get to talk about one of my interests most of the day. When I am at home its just my kids so we talk about cartoons or stories or what we are going to do. I am not out in casual social situations very much, but when I am I usually remain pretty quiet until a topic I like comes up or I am asked a question.

I'd say this more or less sums me up (except for the children part). Most of my interests are at least related to my job, and I am friends with the Dr. that I work under, as well. In general, I tend to be the stoic guy in the corner until I am 'asked a question' or something interesting comes up. At which time, I sometimes actually butt in a bit obtrusively.

That being said, I guess that, as far as actual topics, I would say philosophical/scientific topics, music, Nature and road trip stories sum my conversations up for the most part.

What I saw on Rugrats that day,
or my latest Nerd Project, my
12 to 9 volt regulator board,
to eliminate the need for using
9 volt batteries in my clock radios
and weather radio, apowered from
a 12 volt rechargeable battery kept
up by a trickle charger, so that when
the power fails, I have a fresh 9 volt
source to last for days instead of
a questionable 9 volt battery that
I don't know the freshness of.

Berother and me talk about this
mean old bag we know called Arlie
and make fun of her because she
is mean, my X firflrend Sue-er and
how stupid she is, my X stepfather
Jack-arse and how stupid, full of poop,
and phricken NUTZ he was.

Wjheere we are gonig to eat next,
what we want tp olay when its nice
and gloudy, or what next Nerd Project
we are gonig to get into, brother and me
are Nerds and dang proud of it,
he is the Maths Nerd and I am the
Electronics Nerd.

yeah sometimes it gets to the point where I think I may just be a NT lost amongst NTs, even though I am officially DXed as with AS back when I was like 12/13

and yeah, I love the dancin kirby as well. Sometimes I just like to be creative with my sig space. Might be changing it soon since I found my Knights who say Ni sig.

It depends on who I'm talking to.

I don't really have conversations much. In our family, the conversation is usually about Warcraft (my AS son's special interest), Lego, Doctor Who, or that kind of thing. We quote movies at each other a lot.

When I'm talking to my mother, the topics include knitting, Harry Potter, how the brain works, books we've read, and some family stuff.

Anecdote Alert:

About 13 years ago I was taking a class called "The Study of Language". We had this multi-faceted assignment which involved recording a 20 minute conversation between ourselves and someone else, and then analyzing it in a lot of ways, like studying the actual sounds, or exploring semantics, and that kind of stuff.

The hardest part, by far, was getting that conversation. There was this assumption that people are naturally having conversations all day long, and that all you have to do is turn on your tape recorder and you'll get one. I had a grand total of two people in my life who I ever had conversations with. One was my mother, who didn't want to be recorded (which I understand), and the other was my husband. So, I bought a little tape recorder, and we sat down to talk. But our conversations aren't 20 minutes of back and forth. Our conversations naturally have big gaps in them. It was supposed to be a naturally flowing conversation, and not scripted. We just couldn't do it.

Finally, since I needed something, we forced ourselves to keep talking, and ended up spouting off facts about hard drives to each other for 20 minutes. It was unnatural, and uncomfortable, and not very exciting to analyze. I kept wishing I had managed to get a better conversation, but I just couldn't. I had no idea how to make that happen. Still don't.

I knew nothing of AS at the time. I noticed that I was the only one in the class who had had any trouble getting a conversation, and wondered what they had which I lacked.

Animals, cricket...my social disasters (the latter to my counselor).

Those are the main things. Cricket conversations are common between my stepdad & I and my mum & I quite often talk about the pets. When with other people though I just let them start the conversation about whatever they want and then I try to think of what to say next.
