Those were some of my favorite books as a kid.

What has come over me?
What madness taken hold of my heart?
To run away, the only answer
Pulling me away
To fall upon the source of my recovery
Sweet shadow taking hold of the light
Another day has been devoured
Begging a question - why?

For saving me from all they’ve taken
Let my honor fall again
Giving me the strength to face them
Feeling it taking over now
On a path to take it all away
There can be no better way of knowing
In a world beyond controlling
Are you gonna deny the savior in front of your eyes?
Stare into the night
Power beyond containing
Are you gonna remain a slave for the rest of your life?
Give in to the night

This self-discovery
Redemption taking hold of my mind
A serenade of haunting voices
Calling me away
To feast upon the source of my felicity
Dark maiden taking hold of my hand
Lead me away from hibernation
Strong and unafraid
Never a question - why?

For saving me from all they’ve taken
Let my honor fall again
Giving me the strength to face them
Feeling it taking over now
On a path to take it all away
There can be no better way of knowing
In a world beyond controlling
Are you gonna deny the savior in front of your eyes?
Stare into the night
Power beyond containing
Are you gonna remain a slave for the rest of your life?
Give in to the night

Give in to the night
In a world beyond controlling
Are you gonna deny the savior in front of your eyes?
Stare into the night
Power beyond containing
Are you gonna remain a slave for the rest of your life?
Give in to the night…

Great voice, looking forward to Goldie and James doing more work with her (Lady Blackbird):

If the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So brown eyes, I hold you near
Cuz you're the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere

Has it been long enough that I can get away with putting this again?

Join in, join in, my child, and listen
Digging through my old, numb shadow

My shadow’s shedding skin
I’ve been picking my scabs again
I’m down, digging through
My old muscle for a clue
I’ve been crawling on my belly, clearing out what could have been
I’ve been wallowing in my own confused and insecure delusions
For a piece to cross me over
Or a word to guide me in
I wanna feel the changes coming down
I wanna know what I’ve been hiding
In my shadow, my shadow
Change is coming through
My shadow, shedding skin
I’ve been picking my scabs again

Join in, join in, my child
Shadow’s closer to meaning

I’ve been crawling on my belly, clearing out what could have been
I’ve been wallowing in my own chaotic and insecure delusions
I wanna feel the change consume me, feel the outside turning in
I wanna feel the metamorphosis and cleansing I’ve endured
In my shadow, my shadow
Change is coming, now is my time
Listen to my muscle memory
Contemplate what I’ve been clinging to
Forty-six and two ahead of me

I choose to live and to grow
Take and give and to move
Learn and love and to cry
Kill and die and to do
What it takes to move through
I choose to live and to lie
Kill and give and to die
Learn and love and to do
What it takes to step through

See my shadow changing, stretching up and over me
Soften this old armor, hoping I can clear the way by
Stepping through my shadow and coming out the other side
Step into the shadow
Forty-six and two are just ahead of me

Really, when I try to think of music that speaks to my soul, much of what I get is Tool, even though I’m no longer fixated on them and only them.

^^ Sometimes I watch reaction videos and I get a kick out of some people's reaction to Aenima and various other songs on that album. Not a bad song on the album but I still feel like, in some ways, Pushit was probably the most next-level (melodically and in all kinds of ways and it seems to resonate with a lot of other people that way as well (not to mention Maynard doing some sort of Gregorian chant with it in the box set).

I hadn’t really watched reaction videos, but I just watched a bunch starting from the ones you shared. It makes me appreciate the songs even more to have everything about different aspects pointed out. Reflection is another one that really resonates with me, and also Pneuma. Parabol/Parabola never fails to rev me up.

Shall we Flood this thread with Tool?

(Also on my list of “soul songs”)

I'm so glad Green Day made the decision to leave this country they claim to hate after exploiting all of their fans in the US who are stupid enough to give money to musicians singing about how stupid they are so that Green Day themselves can live a luxurious lifestyle that the average person in the US will never have. American Idiots indeed. :nerdy:

Again, because people can't think for themselves? ^

I see a pattern here.
