Just wondering...sensitivity issue?

Short version is I'm friends w/ a guy whose parents both passed away before I met him :(. I've noticed that whenever other people's parents come up he throws in (quietly) that he doesn't have parents anymore... wondering if this means I should refrain from ever mentioning my parents again (I've had some issues w/ them for awhile now)?

I don't know. Do you think he's suggesting that people stop complaining about their parents because one day you might lose them?

Maybe...I would probably ask if people talking about their parents annoyed him. I don't know if that's the right thing to do though, it's just what I would do. Maybe you should ask a NT about that one.

Dustintorch: I'd ask him but I'd rather not upset him (he'll openly discuss his father who passed last year/why he hates smokers... but never talks about his mother...).
