Does the gluten/dairy/casein/sugar free diet actually work at all? 'Cause I've read a few stories about how parents 'cured' their children with those diets so I was thinking of giving it a shot, but at the same time it might just be a load of crap. What do you guys think and if you've tried it, did it help you at all?

It only works if you have a physiological problem with the aforementioned foods--which isn't a guarantee for people with autism. I've read quite a bit of anecdotal evidence from some that says it helps--but not cures--however, many here would argue that point as well.

For me, I am sure of dairy and highly suspect of gluten (and maybe a few other foods). Once I get back from traveling for work, I intend to insist upon testing to confirm or deny my suspicions.

I'm vegan, and I've been on a gluten free diet before... it helped my colitis, but not anything else.

It actually didn't work for me. It made me really irritated and hungry because everything we had either had gluten or casein. My doctor had me tested for allergies to gluten and casein. Not only am I allergic to gluten and casein, I was allergic to nearly every food known to man! So my doc put me on a special diet. I was hungry, depressed, and my digestive problems got worse not better (in fact I stopped eating on account of this). I also lost 8lbs in a month so now I weigh a petite 96-98lbs :D . But you never know, it could work for others.

It's not a good idea to cut out sugar. A little bit of sugar a day is required.
As for GFCF; it works for some but not for all.
