Does anyone find her annoying? Media coverage of autistic people angers me.

She's probably just dement in some way, no autistic person would say ridiculous things like she does.

I know she has been helpful to other autism spectrum people in finding their way and developing their careers. I respect her for that. She comes across a little strange, but what do you expect? She is on the spectrum herself.

That's silly; plenty of autistic people say ridiculous things.

She needs to stick to herbivores when it comes to animal-whispering, though. She doesn't know a thing about cats.

I had a demented math teacher once who used to bark like a dog towards an person with autism who sat beside me, that was pretty autistic.

as much as I admire Dr. Grandin, I must say I am repulsed by her physical presence. Something inside my mind keeps screaming - "oh, goodness, woman, keep it together, you are embarassing me!" I guess I am not as autistic as I think I am!

I must admit, I quite admire her. She's done so much for animal welfare, while remaining realistic and taking into account the people who her changes will affect.

I agree with Ladarzak on this thread. SoulcakeDuck and those who agree with you - fancy justifying your opinions? I'm curious...I've read articles & a book by her, and she seemed very sensible to me.

She makes me very uncomfortable, I try to watch vids of her on You Tube but it just feels like she's screaming at me and I get really embarrassed for her.

*shivers* Nope, she's not my kind of girl.

I can't explain my aversion, as I don't understand it myself. I do tend to avoid watching things she's in, or reading things by her. Honestly I have no idea why. Something in my head just screams at me.

She's fine. I see nothing wrong with her.

Me too. I got "Thinking in Pictures" for Christmas and really enjoyed it.

This thread kind of makes me sad. The idea of coming onto a support forum for people on the autistic spectrum and making a derogatory comment about a well-known, successful autistic woman is rather disturbing. I wouldn't want someone starting a thread about whatever flaws they see in me.

When I read the threads about how horrible NTs are because of the way they gossip and talk bad about people, I just think, "whatever".

Is anyone watching this video on HBO about her tonight? Claire Danes is acting as her.
