I really like Audrey De Montigny's CD (has she only made one?) from Canadian Idol, and even though for the French songs I don't know the lyrics, it sounds beautiful and meaningful anyway. Does anybody know any other nice French pop music?

:D I like The French Song by Joan Jett.

"J'aime faire I'amour sur tout a trois"

I found a great symphonic prog album on Prog Archives called Harmonium - Si On Avait Besoin D'Une Cinquième Saison. My favourite song is Histoires Sans Paroles, it's a 17 minute epic and i really like the flute and mellotron.

Here's a few to look out for:

Plastic Bertrand
Jerry Spider Gang
Magma (Not in french though, as their drummer sings in a made up language)
Les Breastfeeders (Quebecois)
Metal Urbain
Ruth

Also keep an eye out for the compilation 'IVG Vol. 1 Futur Anterior France '75-'85'

Another one to look for is Acid Mother's Temple's 'La Novia', which is a japanese stoer Rock band's interpretation of the Provencial/ Lang d'Oc folk song 'La Novia'.

I second Francoise Hardy. She's excellent. Carla Bruni's guitar-driven folk oriented debut album is also worth a look into. The two albums released by Camille are highly recommended, if you're into some slightly more avante garde pop. I also have a liking for Alizee, which is more mainstream pop.

No, I've never liked it, nor classical music.
