Ok, I gave up on buying an iphone, but I stil l want a cellphone and I found a few cheap (at least for me because I can get each of them for 1$ because my mother is extending her agreement with her provider so she'll get one of those phones extra) phones with either a windows mobile interface or android, or iphone os and I just can't decide (mostly because I really am totally oblivious to cellphones)

HTC diamond - windows mobile

HTC magic - android

Sony Ericsson X1 (+8gb storage)

http://www.testfreaks.com/cellphones/so ... xperia-x1/
(I think those two are the same phone, it's just that they're called differently in the usa and europe)

Iphone 3gs 16gb

Thinks I want the phone for:
Using remember the milk and evernote - typing a lot. (Relativelly)
Listening to mp3s- not music (I never listen to music on a portable device) but audiobooks. A friend of mine it sucks to listen to mp3s on a phone, so I don't really know if I even can listen to an audiobook on one of those phones (will I hear the audiobook correctly?)
- The standard calling, sms email.etc.
- I most probably never (or maybe once or twice) will use the phone for games.

Oh and I'll read pdfs.

Well, since I love Google and hate Microsoft I'm going to say Android.

A little over a year ago an iPhone I had got stolen and for a while I was using Windows Mobile on a Samsung Black-Jack II and I found it to be very clanky and slow. I am glad I got my iPhone replaced a few weeks later.

if you pause a podcast/audiobook of course it will stay in that position. btw in iTunes you can set "remember last position" for mp3s you select.

you can read PDFs in many ways, top of my head: using Evernote, using Discover, putting the PDF in Stanza. I think even Google docs can handle them. You have many many options.

A killer option I use is to sync the iPhone calendar with the Google calendar. That way, any time you are next to a computer and add something to google calendar, the iPhone calendar app updates the info.
Best of all: There's even some jailbreak option for showing the calendar in the lock screen, no need to even open a single thing!
Hope I explained it myself because it rules.

I vote for android since I got a motorola milestone (droid) a while back and love it

Try and get some hands-on time with each phone if you can to help you decide
