And no, I don't mean White Zombie.

And last but not least, their signature song:

I've got a copy of Oddywhatsit and Oracle - I like Time of the Season. There's quite a melancholy streak to their songs!

Yes, I love The Zombies. The subtle eeriness of Colin Blunstone's voice is incredible.

It seemed like normal "British Invasion" stuff at the time, and yet, in addition to the singer's eerie voice, the music often has an indescribable nearly-disjointed or somehow "off" quality to it.

The question I ponder is whether or not to compare The Zombies to what The Walker Brothers were doing at the same time:

I doubt anyone could really give Rod Argent a run for his money, he's a genius (R.I.P.). It's always Jon Lord this, Jon Lord that. Rod Argent's keyboard was that guinea pig maze he not only knew like the back of his head, but in which he knew the shortcuts.

But that being said, I envy you. I wouldn't even mind being in a Zombies tribute band either. I've got a Hofner 500/1 bass, perfect for the vintage sound (although not that White used a hollow-bodied bass as far as I know  ).

Glad to know that there's other fans of The Zombies out there. I don't know why they aren't more well known in the UK. I'm gonna get shot down for saying this, but they're better than the Beatles.

They certainly do have the right to be compared to The Beatles. In the UK? Hell, The Zombies should have been much more well known than they currently are, period. I haven't met one person who has even heard of The Zombies.

Me: *mentions The Zombies*
Person: "The Zombies? Oh, you mean White Zombie, right?"
:wall:

I Love The Zombies. In some ways, they are better than the Beatles especially when it came to their psychedelic sound found on Odessey and Oracle.

Ahh yes, The Zombies. I've liked them ever since I was a kid, actually. Some bands I currently like, such as Neutral Milk Hotel, Belle and Sebastian, and The Flaming Lips all seem pretty influenced by their material ;) To the OP, thanx 4 posting "You Make Me Feel Good", it was fun to hear!! "Care of Cell 44" is also an awesome song! And of course, I'm pretty familiar with their big three ("Time of the Season", "She's Not There", and "Tell Her No") through oldies stations (and occasionally classic rock stations). I love how bright and nostalgic they sound :)
