I heard a few songs from it back when it came out, and I guess I wasn't ready for it at the time. However, I came back and gave it another listen recently, after having become acquainted with a bit of experimental music such as The Mars Volta, Sigur Ros and the like, and it just clicked in a huge way! I get the feeling Steven Wilson was watching a lot of David Lynch when he wrote this - it's very cerebral and kind of mystifying, but can be brutal when it wants to be. It has a whole lot of fantastic guest musicians too like Gavin Harrison, Jordan Rudess, Tony Levin, Clodagh Simonds, Sand Snowman and so on. So yeah, that's my gushing session over. Check it out!
