I have noticed someone using a different avatar now (don't remember the old one, just know it's different), and it changes how I read the tone of their messages and how I perceive them as people, too. I often don't even remember someone if they change their avatar or think they're a whole new person.

I was just wondering the perennial question: Is anyone else like this?

I am sorry then...I have changed my avatar 4 times since joining just a few weeks ago. Some people complained about my original picture (the warning about not falling down the stairs) so I have been searching for something else that feels like me. Perhaps I will go back to my original pic then. I thought it was funny.

I have to keep checking the name to remind who they are if the avatars different it takes time to get used to but it doesn't change how I read the tone it's just confusing.

Well I could tell you weren't an SS or a Luftwaffe Officer dog, but in B/W I couldn't tell if it was an infantry or artillery officer dog you, err, weren't.

And I'm not a red rose with a crown on its head. ;)

To answer your question: avatars don't really affect how I see people on here (obviously if it was something nasty, it would). It's what the poster writes that matters to me.

Many people's nicknames are confusing to me, or maybe mean something to the person but not to the community as a whole, and so I associate people with their avatars. When they change them it throws me off completely.

The avatar itself however, doesn't affect how I view the person.

Well, the answer is yes. That's why we pick them, they say something about who we are, and consciously or unconsciously everyone is influenced, to what degree is debatable but it is impossible not to be.

I consider the avatar to be part of the representation of their personality. But when their avatar is obviously not important to them, or they just post up there some neat thing to them, i don't hold it against them. But I often think people can put up something which strikes me as "More them"

From his beard to his boots, he was covered with ammo. Like a big fat drunk disgruntled yultide rambo. And he smiled as he said with a twinkle in his eye, merry christmas to all, now you're all gonna die! The night santa went crazy, the night st nicholas flipped. Realized he been getting the raw deal, something finally must have snapped in his brain.

Agent 79s avatar cracks me up! The first time I saw it, I spent at least two minutes laughing my derrier off!! This is really disturbing to me because it looks like a baby falling down. I hope it's not. But at any rate, I found it uproariously funny!

Did you know I always saw that as a fat man? I didn't even think about the baby aspect....now I see why it disturbs some people. Oh well. It makes me laugh because I am always falling down the stairs.
