And isn't it kind of weird that in the 21st century, the age of technology, advanced computers can be confused by something like the date?

I was told about this yesterday, good thing I did not turn on the PS3.

so what will happen.. i turned on my ps3, got 8001050F.. will it now do some real damage if i play a game or don't turn it off?
if it breaks, methinks sony owe me a third console.. & maybe a new controller (sticky sticks);)

Hmm. If I remember correctly...advice from Sony is turn it off in case it does some permanent damage. I'm following the advice but unfortunately had it on for about 20 hours before I read it...so if it was going to do damage, then the damage be done

I've read there could be loss of trophies for some games, but don't know if temporary or for good

It didn't do anything permanent to mine even though I turned it on a couple times.
