Except they don't ask obvious or stupid questions. Like sometimes I would be like "Who's Mr. X?" or "Whats blah-blah-blah?" And the other person would be shocked saying "You never heard of Mr. X!?!?!?" or "How do you not know what blah-blah-blah is?!?!?!"

If it is something I don't know a lot about but I am interested in, I will listen.
If it is something I'm not interested in (like their kids, fashion, celebrities), I will pull out my iPhone and check me e-mail or something. I don't even PRETEND to be interested.
