To borrow a lyric song :wall: "hello wall (hello hello), how things go for you today?" Fine thank you (turning toward you the forum membership)... and you?

I am a self-diagnosed amalgam Asperger's & Schizoid with a misanthropic bent (FORUM APPLAUSE!) Thank you, thank you - you're (rather than 'it was') nothing, really. I'm also an paradox as such, as in: 'if so, then WTH are you here for' you inquire? Because you're my kind of people: distant, inaccesible & tolerable as such. Also because of knowledge - to impart & glean, for, - grim realization - I do not have all the answers... nor do you.

Here's what I do know: I'm generally content and unstressed to the extent I do not have to endure people in the flesh; much as EM Cioran himself stated and which I affirm: "the flesh spreads, further & further, like a horrible gangrene upon the surface of the globe. It cannot impose limits upon itself, it continues to be rife despite its rebuffs, it takes its defeats for conquests, it has never learned anything." Amen.

To the extent I 'have to' suffer the flesh 'in the' as it were, I am 'less' happy and 'more' stressed. Images upon TV screen, computer or magazines...sufficient. Now that we are better acquainted, I do not look forward to being here with you, and implore you not stalk me for, I am also paranoid - but I make up for it via delusions of grandeur.

Now then, let the mutual vivisection & di begin...

greetings earthling :)
in an insane world, a sane man may just be an under-visible non-entity because his behaviors would be "beneath the radar", so to speak. but it would depend on what sort of insanity one were talking about. in an actively insane world an inactively sane person would be less noticeable than an actively sane person in an inactively insane world. just my 2-cents' worth, adjusted for inflation.

"The majority is always sane, Louis."

Of course, to put that in perspective, this conversation, in Larry Niven's novel Ringworld, came after human Louis Wu discovered the evolutionary advantage conferred by the puppeteer's two separate, one-eyed heads and three legs (one in the back, two in the front) - so that when confronted by danger, the puppeteer can turn, not to run, but to balance on the front legs, deploy the heads to each side for best binocular vision, and kick very precisely with the hind leg. (In the particular instance, Nessus had just kicked a humanoid's heart out through his spine.)

However, the puppeteers, being herbivorous, are also cowards by anyone else's estimation - does it make sense to fight to eat a plant? (There are hints that the plants on their homeworld were once very dangerous, but since puppeteers have been civilized for tens of thousands of years at least, it is no longer the case.) Thus, any brave puppeteer is also crazy, at least by the standards of his people. (In Nessus' case, there was also comorbid Bipolar Disorder - he was on a "high" during the combat sequence. Once on Earth, while on a "low", Nessus was terrified into catatonia by a butterfly.)

So this estimate came from a herd creature that accepted as one of its basic axioms the virtues of the group - and thus shared few things in common with those of us here... :)

I say the only one who is truly insane is the one who does not know.

IWishIWasCioran is here... let the party begin (first, ensure all the shades are drawn & the forum doors locked, then go to sleep - by yourself)... yes, we're going to get along just fine here, I can already tell.

Exit, stage right

One of the neat things about WP, at least for me, is that it does not really matter who I take too seriously today. If I take myself too seriously, others just watch and wait 'til I chill, and if I take someone else too seriously, I do the same.
