A more positive post to counteract my other one..
positive things about AS

i am independant and don't need to rely on other people all the time
i don't care what people think of my clothes or how trendy i am
i'm honest and say what i think - and most people like it because they realise i'm not trying to offend
i have a bizarre sense of humour and look at things differently
i'm logical which helps when problem solving

intense single minded focus

The ability to accept others for who they are and not expect them to change to fit in with your view of normal.

Maybe when the thread gets to a certain point a list can be done differenciating positive attributed to oneself and that of common positivities of A.S.D's / A.S & H.F.A.

Above average intelligence

Good memory skills

Attention to detail

Accuracy

Ability to see tasks through and ensure completeness in them. Patience in these tasks.

Analytical mind

Systematic mind

Above average vocabulary

No need to worry about the phone ringing off the hook all day or worry about too many people asking you out at the same time. Extra money from the government for disability. Save money on drink since i look and act half-cut already. Little need for a rocking chair. No need to write down what kind of boxer shorts i need from k-mart as i repeatedly say what ones take my fancy anyway. An ability to decode top secret government codes. Little need to worry about other people's situations as im preoccupied with myself most of the time. Yeh.

Not having relationship drama like I see most women my age going through.

Having perfect pitch.

Having a logical mindset.

Long, detailed memory.

immunity to advertisement, which leads to good personal economy
Ability to do things on our own, like eating alone in a restaurant, going to the movies alone...
Ability to keep secrets forever
We get more work done because we don't take long breaks to talk to peers
No need to spend money to be happy... just take a walk thru the park or sit to watch the rain falling down

Getting good grades without much effort
We are used to life being hard, so we don't worry as much about other problems NT's cry for

I figure being normal is plain boring, I love being different... makes life more exciting, makes it worth living, knowing you are not just another sheep in the herd.

I have a Mind of my own, and I use it.
I border between Average and Above Average in Intelligence.
I speak with an interesting Accent. It's part Cockney, part BBC and I was born in Canada, into a very Canadian Family.
I enjoy being myself, and every time that I'm mistaken for a Cockney, I enjoy it even more.
I can enjoy eating at the Kitchen Table, alone.
I can go Shopping by myself.
My Dog is the only Walking Partner that I need.
I can be alone for long periods of time.
I don't feel the need to buy clothes, just because they're in Fashion.
I can wear a pair of Horn-Rimmed Glasses and still look good.
I can have the House to myself, and my Parents can have faith in me, not to throw wild Parties.
I don't need a Love Mate to be happy.
I don't feel the need to "fit in", in order to get on with people.
I do The Sixties and I do that Decade well, in a London sort of way.

Actually a lot (most?) of the traits listed in this thread aren't general Aspie features.

I can adapt myself to talk and interact with all kinds of people, from all walks of life because I had to do that anyway to fit in with others before I knew I had HFA.
