It may not be perfect, but at least it is a step in the right direction.

Our elected representatives were very brave to vote for health reform, given all of the death threats that they have received from the typical band of Republican kooks.

You can get better care in India where medical treatment is virtually unregulated and unsupported by the State. I get my perscription drugs from India, cheaper and just as good as can be gotten in the U.S.. Free enterprise rulz.

But as a visitor you are only covered for emergency services. The American patient behaved perfectly rationally, because he knew that it would be his Amex card on the line if his insurer didn't agree to pony up.

That sounded like an emergency.

Couldn't he have with-held his credit card, and then just conveniently ditched the country as soon as he was well enough?
