Is anybody here arachnophobic? For anybody who doesn't know what arachnophobia is, it's a fear of spiders.

I'm not sure if I'm arachnophobic or not. I mean, I appreciate how if it weren't for spiders then the world would be overrun by insects. However, I really can hardly stand the sight of spiders. That doesn't mean if I see one nearby that I'm going to kill it, it would just creep me out a little.

Why are spiders so creepy looking? I mean, who wouldn't be creeped out by something that's hairy, has six long legs, and eight eyes?

According to most diagnosis, among other things its a phobia if you spend a certain amount of time thinking about it to the point where it is disruptive. Something like 1+hours a day I think? IOnno the exact numbers.

So the frequent posting about it indicates it is a real phobia : P.

I love spiders myself, but I'm afraid of other things.

I hate insects too. They were a reason of my scream attacks in the childhood.

I saw the thread title and thought it was about the movie. But yes, I'm definitely afraid of spiders.

Some of the smaller spiders I don't mind too much, but it's the big hairy spiders like tarantulas that really scare me. Hell, I had a hard time beating Resident Evil 2 because of those tarantulas that were like the size of a kitchen table that you've had to fight.

I suppose it's nice that you don't kill it.

I think there's a spider living in my room. I saw a spider web up on the ceiling near the light bulb. I suppose as long as it doesn't come down and crawl on me while I'm asleep, then I don't mind sharing a room with it.

With spiders, I guess I tolerate their existence as long as they keep their distance from me.

i can't tolerate creepy-crawlies in my space, i will evacuate them with alacrity, but unless they are bees, fleas, mosquitos and flies, i will try my damndest not to kill them. i consider it a personal moral failing that i don't wish to preserve the lives of stinging, biting, bloodsucking and germy insects as well.

My sister is. I remember one summer, that I was really jealous of the fact, that she was making her own money outside the home, and I wasn't. I knew that my sister was scared of spiders, so when she was sleeping in, one morning, I walked up to her closed door, and said, "Spiders."

I can stand looking on spiders that cannot reach me (like on a photograph) :P But those running free are terrifying sometimes to me.

I have murdered a spider with water once.
I do admire spiders from a distance.
Because they can walk on walls and ceilings.
And they create webs.
I cannot do those things.
