Being diagnosed as autistic seems to free us the pressure put on people to conform to this standard or model of what people are supposed to be like. At the same time the reason we were diagnosed in the first place is because our neurochemistry seems to make it a near impossibility to conform to this model even if we wanted to. I've decided to stop caring altogether about conforming to any BS standard and I admit knowing that I'm diagnosed as autistic makes it 1000 times easier for me to free myself of this BS. Before I was diagnosed I figured out how to free myself of all this mind control BS probably because I was cornered and had little choice. The trick is to not care. It sounds childish and immature to say this but thats the way it is. You can free yourself of the mental enslavement modern society inflicts on people simply be refraining from caring about things. All it takes to refrain from caring about things is to adopt an unconventional belief system which rips the BS up from its roots. For example heres one that works. If you believe that there is nothing thats bad instead we're here in this thing people call life to gain unique perspectives and vantage points that can only be gained under these specific conditions. With that in mind every so called bad experience we have gives us a unique perspective that could only be gained under those specific conditions and maybe we bring these perspectives and points of reference with us beyond this reality. For example say you spent the last 15 years in a tiny box and all you could eat was a bit of rice every day so you were constantly starving and in agony being stuck in that little box. Then suppose you suddently get out of the box and make your way to an all you can eat buffet. Under normal every day conditions you would not really appreciate being able to stretch your legs and having more than enough to eat but after spending 15 years stuck in a tiny box starving the whole way through it would be like dying and going to heaven.

Adopting that philosophy pretty much nullifies anything you previously considered bad and instead of avoiding these "bad things" you embrace them. This would make one immune to punishment/reward brainwashing because one would no longer be avoiding the punishment and seeking the reward.

Some truth in that...drop out, turn on as we used to say.

There was a jolly miller once
Lived on the River Dee;
He work'd and sang from morn till night,
No lark more blithe than he.
And this the burden of his song
Forever used to be;
I care for nobody, no, not I,
If nobody cares for me.

Couldn't agree more. I don't care what society thinks either, I only care how I can use it to make me rich. I observe everything as an outsider for this purpose.

I've written more extensively about my views on this in other threads, so I won't repeat myself here.

:P Hey, that's deep, man. You don't actually have to work for a living to keep food in your belly yet, do ya?

I mean, you're right, society does feed us a lot of BS, no doubt about it. And you're not even close to being the first person to think you can free yourself by giving up desire, in fact that thinking is thousands of years old. Just be prepared to carry it all the way, 'cause otherwise it's meaningless BS in itself.

Stop caring about owning property, but be prepared to be homeless and constantly arrested for going around naked. Stop worrying about food, or being able to obtain food, or having to get along with or please other people to obtain food. Just ignore those hunger pangs, they'll stop after a few days...by then you'll have stopped caring about continuing to live...and when you die of starvation, you will have proven to the world the depth of your commitment to your beliefs - that you cared about living up to those ideals...oops... 8O

Or just ignore me...I don't care...

I Am Free - The Kinks

Sailing in-between the land, the air and me
Confusion never talks[?]
'Cause frame of mind tells me that I am free
I am free

Doors are open wide
No credits to be seen
Sail with me my friend
I need someone, it's dark and it could get lonely
I am free

I am free

I don't care to be
As similar as[?] machines
To [?]
And convalesce when society doesn't need me
I am free

Being autistic seems to make as naturally non-conformist which is great.
I remember when I was younger people would think people used to word 'non-conformist' to be cool.
But cool is a conformist word too.
People still use that word on me. "Oh you think you're so much cooler than us?"
I wear glasses, can never keep up to the standards of fashion, have a telescope in my room, want to go to Hogwarts and spend my leisure time writing about fantasy. Could you think of anything uncooler than that?
Cool is what the popular kids use. It defines what people should strive to be to be accepted and envied.

OK I'm going off an a rant here...

I hate most people and society.

Lots of conformists wear glasses. One of the most popular and trendy girls at college wore glasses because she couldn't see very well and didn't want to use contact lenses.

Being creative during your freetime is actually more common than what you think. I know a conformist neurotypical who likes to draw cartoon strips for fun in her spare time. No big deal.

Adults who get some sort of enjoyment out of dressing up as a baby in a crib with a pacifier, during their free time, is disturbing and uncool in my eyes. The most trendy, popular conformist neurotypical I know could do this in his or her free time without anyone knowing.
Now that is troubling to think about.
