AARRRGGGHHH!! !! !
The character played by Leonard Nimoy on Star Trek (1966-1969, plus several movies), the half-human, half-Vulcan science officer and first officer of the starship Enterprise, was Mr. Spock (Lt. Cdr. Spock, if you were being formal).
Dr. Benjamin Spock was a pediatrician in the 1960s and 1970s, famed for advising that parents actually talk to their children - often misread as "try to reason with the little meatheads- er, I mean little darlings, and never ever spank" (which is not what Dr. Spock actually said, but try telling that to a "progressive" parent in the '70s).
The confusion of the two has been grating on my nerves since, well, Star Trek was on the air.
