From lack of sleep. Any tips for getting rid of them? Or talk about your own. I often look like I've been punched in both eyes. Describe your own hideous pits of despair.

I could google this but I'm too lazy to click up there and I'm here and have typed this already.

Judy Finnigan swore by hemorrhoid cream, I have also heard cold tea bags work. Ideal World sell Eyesential for £49-99.
Cold cucumber slices cost far less. :)

I'm bothered by this too. I don't look too unhealthy, but would probably look a lot better/more approachable without them.

Rather than looking like I've been punched, I think the effect is more that I'm being slowly corrupted by the Dark Side, Anakin Skywalker-style.

I hate those, I get them all the time, but its been a lot worse since I have been pretty exhausted and stressed recently due to a lot of work I have to finish off so there was no time wasting there. :(

Hopefully they won't mistaken me as a panda. Image

I get those, from time to time. It's very annoying.

Tim Burton is fond of making his characters have dark circles under their eyes:

Beetlejuice
Edward Scissorhands
Sweeney Todd
Mrs. Lovett

etc, etc.

Haha, yeah! That too.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Think I'll try cold tea before prep H. I've never drank prep H before. Just kidding.

Whatever a good way of getting rid of them, I have yet to know of. I have really bad dark circles under my eyes. I wear glasses though, so they don't really show much... but when I take my glasses off, they are really noticeable. It's almost as if I'm a zombie or something.

An ice pack can help. If they don't go away with a good night sleep, they could be caused by allergies. Common allergens that cancause dark circles are dairy and wheat.

(Why yes, health is my special interest!)

Woah! That was cool...

*reads*

"Dark circles under eyes"

*thinks*

"Pris was pretty cool."

Image

*thinks*

"Didn't the actress who played Pris play someone else?"

*wikis*

"Daryl Hannah, appeared in Blade Runner and Kill Bill..."

*thinks*

"Ah, Kill Bill, that was it, Elle Driver, right?"

*reads*

"...diagnosed as borderline autistic, later Asperger's."

I think I'm in love...

Mine are caused by dry eye syndrome, i.e. inflamed eyes due to low tear production.
My solutions:

a) Hydrolyze cream (overnight)
b) Wearing tinted airtight swimming goggles (overnight - without cream)
c) Regular exercise (long-term solution, evens them out somehow)

OMG, I didn't know that. That's pertinent. I'm still trying and failing to kick the wheat habit.

Foods high in phalenes can also cause dark circles. We cut them out for a while and the circles disappeared. Or, maybe it was the steroids for allergies...hmmm. I didn't know allergies could do it.

I've always had dark circles and so does my youngest son. They are so extreme that teachers write a lot of notes about them. We sleep plenty.

I'm so glad I don't get those very bad, even though I sleep a few hours every night. My bus hostess has the hugest, deepest, grossest ones you've ever seen. It's so bad she should actually get plastic surgery. it reminds me of how a dead, shrivelled lizard's eyes look after it's been dead for a while...

I have them for two reasons: the first being genetics (dark eye circles can actually be inherited) and the other reason is because I need to gain weight (but I can't so I'm screwed).
