Have you ever found it relaxing or calming when you are in a tailor shop or clothing store to go among racks of hanging clothing in a side area where you are alone, the other voices are muffled and you can stand there and feel the fabric of the pants hanging up in high rows?

What difference does it make whether the rack is new or not?

I meant the clothing not the racks. Just changed the title to make it clearer.

No because I hate shopping for clothes. I go in, get the size I want then leave.

I find clothes purchase and all venues therefor seriously disquieting. BUT - I know the feeling. For me it comes in the unfrequented crannies of a university library - where they put the books nobody but me would ever use - or a BIG book store.

I liked the 'forest' of racks of clothes when I was a kid (when the racks were taller than me) -- like you said about the muffled sounds, and being surrounded by the texture of the fabrics (unless wool or something equally horrible).
