I have balance and body awareness problems, so big open spaces make me feel off balance. I try looking @ my feet and usually that works, but sometimes I feel the space is going to swallow me up (hard to explain). Does anyone have any ideas?

I feel the same way, in wide open spaces.

Open spaces don't really bug me, but I do prefer being somewhat enclosed. Example: I like being outside on a lake or in a field, but I like the enclosed feeling of a forest better. :)

I live where I'm surrounded on all sides by mountains, so I'm usually fine. The few times when I've been in very large open buildings or where I'm not surrounded by mountains on all sides I got anxious. All I wanted to do was to curl up in a ball and scream.

pretty well the exact opposite here.
The smaller the space the worse it is, the more people there the worse it is, and the more I care about the people that are there, the worse it is.
My mind may want to be in those situations, but my body doesn't react well to it.

Mind you... I think a vast open field, FULL of people would be the worst... I'll stick to the fringes thank you.

I usually feel uncomfortable at either extreme: Too much open space aggravates my sense of vulnerability -- no shelter nearby -- and I am definitely claustrophobic when confined or when there are too many people in one place (like more than just two of us in a car).

I feel similarly to that, but I also have agoraphobia which explains why.
