I'm a guy and not interested in relationships of any sort - but I can see why girls (nt/or aspie) would prefer a NT friend/boyfriend. A relationship between two aspies might not work out very well, especially if both are very introvert/don't have the same interests. The way I see it, the ideal relationship for an aspie would be with an intellectual nt with the same interests, who's understanding, not needy, doesen't need a lot of emotional feedback, is good at taking care of practical/social matters. Mind you, I've never met another person with autism or aspergers irl (and I'd rather have a geeky nt friend actually). As for nt girls not being into AS guys, it's obvious - because aspies don't come forward as very masculine and can't provide them with emotional feedback they want/need. Also they rarely make the first move, appear nervous and lack confidence, most girls (nt or as) don't like that. NT guys aren't as selective, and a bit geeky, yet practical and socially capable nt guy could prove a great match for a girl who has AS. Just my thoughts, there are of course plenty of exceptions.

au contraire monsieur, women with aspergers seem more inclined to pick a man with aspergers, whereas guys with aspergers tend to pick NT women

I shall try to find the source of this information, but it seems you got it wrong

hehe I am so selfabsorbed I even quote myself 8)

my source: Maxine Aston in an interview for ENGAGEMENT met Autisme

i dont think it's even necessary to find a source; it seems like it'd be obvious statistically speaking. there are more men with AS and less women with AS, that leaves those men to seek out relationships with NT women if they want to have any relationships at all.

as for whether women with AS like NT men, i couldn't speak for the whole population of us. while it's occurred to me that a man with AS might be more suitable than an NT, i've never met a man with AS that i'm attracted to or who is even around my age.

one issue i did have is that when i met a guy with AS, he immediately hit on me. this was a bit off-putting since we'd just met, he was 10 years older than me, and i wasn't interested in him at all. possibly if men with AS are less able to gauge a woman's receptiveness this may inhibit their ability to go out with said woman. in my case, i reacted quite badly to his advances because i've viewed them as inappropriate especially timing-wise.

It depends completely on the Aspie girl and guy involved.

It is my impression that NT girls don't like aspie guys either...

That's not a correct statement. I like an aspie guy very much.
NTs are certainly more able to provide emotional support however, and women place more value on that within all their relationships, as opposed to men.

Because physical attractiveness never enters into the equation?

Because we have Aspie guys that assume that we are irritated and don't like them and the guys often will choose NT women I find over being with one of us. Oh well. Hmmmm.

I married an aspie man. I also know of others who both have AS in a relationship. Nobody had ever understood me before like my aspie partner. The NT guys I had dated always wanted to change me.

I always thought aspie girls were attracted to whoever they were attracted to, regardless of labels.

I'm irritated because my headphones keep making clicking noises when I'm trying to listen to music. Unless a guy with AS caused that, none of them are the cause of my irritation.

All the guys with an ASD who I've spoken to at any length, I've liked.
