I've noticed that many here have their own websites and blogs and stuff. The only reason I would think that certain aspies are really tech savvy is because the Internet is their main channel of expressing themselves. How tech savvy do you think you are?

I suck when it comes to the computer.

For the most part, I think so. I'm more of a right-brained person anyway, but I've always been attracted to techie stuff and have been able to figure it out with little or no help from a very young age. I figured out how a lot of HTML works just by looking at it, although to me this is language which I've always had a knack for but is more of a right-brain thing.

It's like some areas of my left brain are very strong and others are completely vacant. I do think there are two different kinds of Aspies, left or right brained dominant, maybe we just have a different way of using the two halves together. I wish they would think about this instead of labeling them all "technician" types and failing to spot AS traits in those who don't want to be engineers.

I voted 'Average' and here's why. I'm not sure if a lot of aspies are technically minded or a lot of technically minded people are aspies.

As for me, I was born with a soldering iron in one hand and a logic probe in the other. I am however a hardware geek and I suck mightily when it comes to software.

I don't have blogs and stuff, merely because I don't want to expose myself personally to the World Wide Web. Anyway, I'm a software geek.

I think tech-savvy people are more likely to be Aspies...not sure if that equates to Aspies are more tech-savvy than other folks. However, I have made a career in IT, so who knows? Maybe it's true.

I'm not tech savvy at all. I'm not anything "savvy".

I'm often helping my NT brother with tech stuff, who is tech-savvy himself and studied computing at college.

Aspies, to generalize, are tech savvy.

It's fun for y'all, I think.

Ha! I am just the opposite - great with software, clueless with hardware.

I still don't know how to make a link, maybe you can teach me. :) I know how to start a poll though, like this one.

jc6chan~

I'm pretty bad at explaining things to people, but i'll do my best.

Let's say you wanted to include a link to something in one of your
posts on Wrongplanet.

For example...go here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonverbal_ ... g_disorder

All you do is highlight the URL in your browser, press CTRL C and then
come back to your post on WP and press CTRL V. Make sure your text
cursor is in the same place you want your link to be when you press CTRL V
though.

If you just want to post a particular part of the text and not the URL
itself, just highlight the text you want to post, press CTRL C, return to
your post on WP and press CTRL V.

While we're at it here...let's see if my computer-illiterate ass can figure out how to post an image 8O

Yay!! !.....that was actually pretty easy.

Soon i'll be programming with the best of these Aspie computer geeks
on wrongplanet

I think that we're average, like the rest of the population.

I've been able to program stuff since I was 10 years old. I had a book and a Tandy Color Computer 2. I'm not the greatest programmer, I do it when I need something specific or get curious about something.

I'm the one everyone goes to for advice when it comes to anything electronic. So, above average.

Oh, I know how to do that. I just don't know how to make a link from a word like "click here" and there would be a hand when you drag the mouse over the word "here".
Do you need help starting a poll?

I'm with Vanilla Slice on this one. Some Aspies are brilliantly technically savy, but plenty are not. Not all Aspies have the same interests, gifts or intelligence. All kinds of people can be amazingly technically savvy. I know people who are wildly creative and in their quest to create have become fabulously technically capable. That could describe some Aspies, some people from all over the neuro-diverse community and some NTs. I don't think that Aspies have a corner on the tech market, though there sure are some Aspies who have done extremely well in that way.
