Favorite animated films that aren't from Disney

Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle.
Both are very beautiful and Magical. I think I like Howl's Moving Castle a bit more than Spirited Away because Howl's Moving Castle is one of the few films that made me cry tears of joy. I think a really good film will make you cry. I think a masterful film would make you cry tears of joy.

I meant to put Iron Giant on my list too (probably around the 8 or 9 spot), but I didn't want to rip off the Nostalgia Critic by making a Top 11 list.

Nostalgia critic is going to review Felix the Cat next week.

The only one I can think of is Scooby Doo on Zombie Island which I believe was made by Warner Bros. It's the only Scooby Doo movie I think is worth watching because the rest (including the live action films) are crap in my opinion. Scooby Doo on Zombie Island had a darker and slightly more realistic theme than the 1970's TV show because the gang were now young adults and were dealing with real dangerous monsters instead of bad guys in masks. I also liked how this film did with the Lousiana culture of bayous and cajun cooking which was kind of educational. Also I think this movie along with Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost were drawn better than the original TV show though, even though I didn't like the second film or the ones that followed after it

I am the biggest animation nerd I know, so I love animation, Disney or not! My favorite movie company is Aardman, but I think DreamWorks, Blue Sky, Pixar, and (of course) Disney all put out great movies. The only good things Nickelodeon are the early episodes and movie of SpongeBob, and Jimmy Neutron. I only like Illumination Entertainment if it's a Despicable Me movie. The Lego Movie was hilarious and Open Season was good enough. Hoodwinked and Monster House were both hilarious. And -- I love Loony Tunes, Veggie Tales and Rankin-Bass specials.

Being a fan of animated movies I've got tons of films I love.

I also love the Looney Tunes (even Looney Tunes: Back in Action!), Tom and Jerry, Popeye, Rankin/Bass, VeggieTales, and The Railway Series (that's what I call Thomas the Tank Engine because that's what the book series it was based on was called). Or at least I liked The Railway Series before Hit Entertainment bought the rights to it and kiddy-fied it. It's the same with Cyber Chase. It was good for 50 episodes, but not really after that. The only good show that still might be putting good episodes on PBS is Word Girl. I also enjoyed Coraline and ParaNorman, which are both made by Laika Entertainment. Don Bluth made some good movies, too, my favorites being "All Dogs Go to Heaven" and "Anastasia".

I do wish that DreamWorks was still doing 2D animated films. They aren't the most memorable of films but the animation is absolutely stunning. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is my favorite of the four. The CGI used to help the animation blends in almost flawlessly. I also prefer the way the characters are drawn. They're more realistic looking but still have a character to them. Compare to Disney who now draw their human characters so caricature-ish and wide-eyed.

I don't like Looney Tunes that much anymore. I used to but I don't because when I was 13 I didn't understand the adult jokes, I thought they were funny but then I regret watching it. I don't like the crass jokes. I wish I didn't watch it.

Although they did primarily theatrical shorts, the Fleischer Brothers did a few full length animations that rivaled Disney. I can't think of their titles offhand, but I do see them on the local cable company's public access channel from time to time. Why Paramount didn't pull a Disney with the Fleischer Brothers (and it's later incarnation Famous Studios) has always baffled me.
