This may be a thread that you'd expect a crazy old coot to make, but I'm a crazy young coot so I can make it.

When I was young almost anything could make me burst out laughing but it seems like as I grow older everything seems to be getting progressively less funny. Most things that I burst out laughing at when I was a kid are now kinda funny or not funny at all nowadays.

You know what would make me laugh like a kid again? If I was watching the news and someone just randomly said a swear word. I wish someone on the news would randomly say something like "Sh**-for-brains!" or "Why don't you go outside and play hide and go F*** yourself?"

Does anyone else here find everything getting less and less funny as they get older? Does anyone else wish someone on the news would start swearing?

I find that the things that made me laugh, 10 years ago, don't make me laugh, anymore. Things like certain movies and jokes.

I think Im still easily amused and I probably laugh at things instead of "dealing" with the "real" emotion. Its common in my family. Still sometimes Im in too much pain to think anything is funny....except maybe my kids and my animals, they can usually make me laugh.

Hmmm...with me it seems to depend on my state of my mind.

Also, I work in a high school so...if I didn't laugh, I'd probably become clinically depressed!

Away from work, I do, sometimes, go through "anti" stages though...you know...grrr leave me alone, go away you're not funny, I just want to lock myself away from the world...etc...perhaps that's what you're feeling right now? :?

Life is certainly less fun. I am more and more lost in myself.

i find things funnier now than when i was younger and dumber. it takes a certain amount of age and experience to get some kinds of humor. part of it is never really growing up, IOW i am still a big kid at heart.

I noticed that I laugh when I'm surprised by something, and as I get older, fewer things surprise me.

this might seem counterintuitive, but as i grow older i have found no shortage of novelty in the manner of "you just can't make this stuff up" happenings in the news. human nature continues to supply the comedians with funny fodder.

remaining a big kid/proto adult insures that my particular funny bone will never become jaded.

I still have a childish sense of humor. Why else would the Willy Wonka movies be able to amuse me at my age? But once I've heard a joke too many times, it becomes stale. That's why I can never watch reruns of The Soup or Tosh.0 .

My brother has watched Animal House at least one hundred times and I love that he still laughs at it!

Im also a big kid in my head....too bad my body wont follow suit. It sucks when the start using words like "degenerative" when discussing your spine.

I'm not sure I find anything funny that is supposed to be anymore...
