What is is that other people want to talk about? Everyone says I'm boring. What do people talk about to entertain each other?

'Boring' in young people's terminology (i.e. teenagers) means no sex or drugs.

You know what to do.

Boring simply means you have no interests or nothing to talk about.
Best way to beat being boring, is take up interests in a variety of interesting things.
Not just one thing, like obsessing over anime, several things.

My interests are as follows

Animals
Excersise
Health
Old fashioned dress
Arts and crafts
food
Plants
Making things
History
Space, physics and the universe
Aspergers awareness
Video games
Reading
Harry potter

etc etc

The more interests you have the more stuff you can talk about.

Celebrity gossip, the latest episode of Lost...you know, the usual.

Seriously though, it really depends on what the individual is interested in. It's just a matter of finding a common topic of interest with whoever it is you are talking to.

hale_bopp's list had some good examples. Movies, TV shows and music are also sometimes good subjects.

In a conversation, you could start by mentioning something in one of those categories that you at least care about enough to talk about for a little while, (e.g., favorite movie, type of music) and see where it goes.

Have you ever actually had a conversation with someone who was coked up?

Yea they'll talk your ear off but it's never interesting in the least.

I've had a coked up girl or two come round to my flat and the last thing on their mind was discussing our mutual hobbies. 8)

OK

That has nothing whatsoever to do with this discussion.

But good for you.

I've been called boring before, not because I have no interests but merely because I do not share interests/there is nothing to say to the individual in question...

I think someone can't be boring, merely perceived as boring by people who do not find the same things entertaining; I think it all relates to common/shared interests, as well as the ability to communicate these interests...

If someone calls me boring I usually just reply with "Well I'm not being paid to entertain you!".

You need to engage. Be interested in their interests. Respond in a positive way to what they say. Have a fluid open attitude to the views of others. Bring your own interests to others in an interesting way. Learn when people aren't interested, and be flexible enough to drop the subject.

And the subject doesn't really matter. An interesting person can interest someone in anything. Likewise, a boring person bores anyone on any subject.

You might give Edward De Bono's "How To Be More Interesting" a read. I think It's actually quite good, and many of the ideas may not be obvious to aspies.

To people who don't share my interests, I know they consider me boring. I also find them boring. I don't put myself in situations where I'll be too bored however, I'll stay home and watch a movie or play a video game before going out to a club/bar with a group of "boring" people. I hate people who just like to talk. They drive me nuts. I wish I had it in me to be a little more rude to people. I have a co worker who drives me nuts. I just want to tell him to stfu, I don't care about his damn car or what he did over the weekend, etc. Grrr.

I have that same problem OP. Lots of people(especially my family) tell me I need to get interest. I have interest but others do not share em or want to talk about em. People also find me boring because I'm straight edge, I don't get out much, I don't socialize & I'm very routine/predictable & I HATE spontaneousness. Only way I can avoid being boring is if I completely change my personality. I like boring & I'd like to find someone who's the same way

I never really fit in well with the other guys, at least until high school because they all wanted to talk sports or music. This is why I picked up a variety of basic knowledge in many things. This way if the person is talking about golf or 80s metal, I can at least chat enough to switch the conversation over to something that I know about, that won't bore the other person. For example, I don't talk about the latest computer parts with my girlfriend because I know she won't care. lol

I do like being spontaneous though, and the Aspergers sometimes gets in the way...

Get out of your comfort zone. Join the military and request overseas deployment. Your life will get a whole lot less boring in an amazingly fast amount of time.

I have disabilities so I would never be allowed in. I actually thought about joining the Peace Corpse cuz I have no opportunities here & thought getting out of the country would increase my odds of finding someone but I got rejected :(
