Sometimes on the weekends I would rather just stay at home and organise my collections, or re-catergorise my music etc. I like to do this especially when I'm all "peopled out" from having a big week at work.

I feel a bit weird about doing this though because NT people like to party, or socialise and do things on the weekends.

When I stay at home and do my own thing, it feels very natural to me, but I also feel like I'm wasting my life :-( but doing these things makes me feel comfortable and happy. Especially when I have been busy all week (I work in a place where I have to interact with people, and be cheerful all the time).

I love to do this. Re-organising my collections in a hyper logical way gives me a way to totally relax and unwind. Often even, the cat comes to join me and that's my perfect world. It is for me a chance to be on my own without all those annoying people around me. Someone said to me once: "If you never go to the parties at the dance club, you have no life." And the only thought I had was: Well, I'd rather have no life. Sometimes it feels lonely, but most of the time I am glad I don't waste time to those kinds of events.

Who cares what other people like to do? You're not them, you're you. Besides, there are plenty of NTs who like quiet weekends without too many people.

I've done my own thing at home since I was a small child and I've spent very little of my life socializing. Becoming absorbed in my interests is the only way I've maintained my sanity. Why should you worry about others if organizing your collection makes you comfortable? People with AS use special interests to relax, like NTs use socializing - at least that's what Attwood says. He also said the more stressed out you are the more time and energy you'll spend on your SI.

I used to think sitting there organizing my collections by myself was a total waste of time and I should be out "living it up". One night, however, an acquaintance of mine finally got me to agree to join him at a big trendy party in some upscale "scene" part of the city with a DJ and all that on a rooftop night club.

I was far more fascinated by the view of the city and this one very tall building made entirely of bricks than anything else...it reminded me of the movie Annie, however I did happen to notice a few things about the people there...

1. Most of them were gathered in this mob around the DJ station, bouncing up and down.
2. In order to bring themselves to do this, most of them had consumed some type of alcoholic beverage.
3. Few of them used the restroom for it's intended purpose. I deduce this from the fact that I do know it is quite unusual for more than one person to enter a restroom stall.

When it was all over, about 90% of them had wasted four hours bouncing up and down. 70% of them would be vomiting in the morning. 20% of them risked getting charged with possession on their way home. 5% of them probably contracted herpes that night. And 2% of them would probably be paying child support in about 9 months.

99% of them wasted their time doing absolutely nothing productive.

Oooh. <3 I don't have many collections but I totally love to organize. I'm a little burnt out on it right now because I just moved, but just from seeing this thread I feel like getting up and organizing something. XD;; (Cleaning too. Cleaning is like organizing the dirt, lol..)

PS Chronos, lol!

I love to organise my things. :D At work, I'm always organizing my desk, and at home, I like to organize my books and dvds. I usually like to seperate them by theme, author, series, etc. And in perfect order. Volume 1, volume 2, etc. I absolutely hate it when someone messes up my system. But then, especially when I buy a new volume of a series, then I reorganize everything again.lolI recheck every weekend, too.

I like organize my figurines by size and color, too.

I enjoy putting my DVDs in alphabetical order. It drives me crazy when they're disorganized. I'd be pretty content having a job at a video store where it would be my job to organize the DVDs. I'm sure I could get an employee discount too, which would be really nice. :)

I don't have collections to order. At least, I have collections, but the idea of putting them in order fills me with disquiet.

When I was younger I used to take all my books out and re-organize in a slightly different order that took my fancy (Alphabetical order by name, author, colour, what have you).

My books are kinda in a purgatorial state at the minute (boxed up) so I don't do it anymore, but I do love organising things. and un-wrangling wires. I really enjoy that.

Ooooh, the bookshelves and the CD collection...that was ALWAYS a soothing activity for me when I was little, and when I recently got another bookshelf, it felt so good that I completely missed that I was wearing myself out physically until after a good 3 hours solid of work! (My books live in 2 different rooms, and I'd just brought some more boxes over from my parents' house, and working out the arrangement meant a lot of carting books from room to room.)

Even LOOKING at my book collection--just standing there and looking at everything in its right place--feels so soothing, so grounding. :)

(Oh, to have a CD rack that fit all my CDs...that'll be the day!)
