Yes indeed. I'm told it means "State Fair" in the local First Americans' language. ;)

ah so :nerdy: I haven't been able to visit the state fair since the oughts. I miss that fair food. and the sawdust. and all the hucksters in that big barn. for decades I lived down the road [west on 512] in a little berg called Spanaway which has its own interesting etymology.

Ahhh, Spanaway...I lived in a house off Golden Given near the Brookdale golf course for a few years, I think '96 to '99.

I lived a short walk away from lake spanaway.

Heck, we were almost neighbors. :D

I got a ride from an aspie group member, to madras to see it. I sorta wish I had went to salem instead, as it was just as clear but not as crowded and not as hot. but the weather report erroneously predicted overcast for salem that day. it was worth the trip in any case, once one has seen totality, it changes one.

How did it change you? I must’ve only been partially changed then.

because I got to cross it off my "bucket list." I highly recommend you try any way you can, to make it to the next one which will be visible in the middle of the country, in 2024. there is just something "cosmic" about seeing totality. it is a once in a lifetime experience.
