You don't need a credit card. A debit card is quite adequate.

Registering with PayPal and eBay is one of the best decisions you will ever make.

I don't have a PayPal account so I can't contribute.

I've always wondered about it though & have had people promote it to me enthusiastically. So this thread is very interesting to me.

I still don't know that I will use PayPal just yet....

I never have to transfer funds into my PayPal account. Whenever I make a purchase, PayPal automatically takes it out of my bank account. I think you need a credit card attached to your account to do it, though, for security reasons.

Agreed.

That's incorrect. I get that service and I use a debit card.

OK let me rephrase that...You need *a* card attached to the account to do that. Same thing, really.

I thought PayPal just takes money out of your bank account when you purchase something online?

No. You have to transfer it from your bank account to PayPal, which takes a few days.

I think there's a way to set it up to have PayPal automatically take it out, but I don't remember how...I think you need a credit card or something to do it.

PayPal calls that "Backup Funding", and you can do that in a variety of ways ... and you can even select the source (if you have more than one available) for your payment of each online purchase.

I do not recall all the details, but I think that has something to do with having a "Verified Address" because some sellers will not ship stuff without first being assured it will be going to a legitimate location held by whoever actually owns the PayPal account.
