England is officially out of the World Cup. That's too bad. I was sure that they'd win the cup, this year. Let's face it, though. The other countries have gotten better, over the years, and it's 2010, not 1966. Two bad things that I've found out, in one day the other,, not related to sports.

Oh well... it looks like they lose again like they do every year.

I've stopped supporting them ages ago because of it.

I am quite happy about this.

I am quite rapt watching all the England flags being taken down.

Patriotism is only for the World Cup here. It's rarely brought out apart from the football.

I am not surprised we lost. We haven't won for over 40 years.
At least now we're out people would stop being so patriotic all the time, I'm fed up of seeing houses with about 6 flags outside of them.

Well I guess that it can be a good thing. It frees me up to get out of my apartment, and see people. :)

It's not so much that but the sheer excessiveness of it that only comes out when the football is on. Would be nice to see a more low-key patriotism develop but it's not to be. That doesn't mean that whole towns have to be bedecked in red, white and blue (as in some unionist parts of Northern Ireland which isn't good in that case as it tends to mark territory) but it would be nice to see a bit more patriotism.

I am also glad they lost, and for a similar reason.
The World Cup has always been a big event in England for as long as I can remember, but the hype around this one was greater than anything I've experienced before.

I do wonder (out of academic interest) how a country that spends so much on football can produce such a rubbish team.

I think Argentina will comfortably beat Germany in the next round. Then the England players won't even be able to claim they were beaten by the eventual champions.

I was almost expecting them to be out, early. They need an 'Own The Cup 2014' programme.

Maybe the Brazilians have a good chance of winning again? Who knows, most of the times as far as I remember, they have or did I get mixed up with another team?
