Watched A-team and saw the trailer for Scott Pilgrim. Very flashy, High Digital fonts (ie Techni colour wild speed lines from plasma blades etc). Speed Racer also employs these methods, or Batman Forever (when Batman beat up the gang with the Raver glow sticks).

Although I was able to enjoy these movies it was uncomfortable to watch, I had to rewind to figure out what the hell just happened. We Austies have of course problems with bombastic eye and ear candy effects. Is Scott Pilgrim going to do this to us also? I'd still go, but I just don't want to feel blah afterwards.

I luckily never had that problem. But anyhow, I did see the Scott Pilgrim preview on Youtube, and I thought it looked cool.

Yea there's the digital fonts and sound effects and what not, and no it didn't work in Speed Racer or Ang Lee's Hulk. But here's the difference. THOSE movies took themselves dead seriously and that made it more ridiculous. Scott Pilgrim is a comedy and being marketed as such. Not mention it's made by a comedy director who hasn't disappointed me yet, so I think we're safe.

I am ridiculously excited for this movie. Edgar Wright is a hero and the comic books are brilliant. I've watched the trailers over and over and I can feel in my bones that it's just going to be an amazing movie.

Edgar Wright rocks!

August 13th is the release date for US/Canada, not sure about UK.
