Very short attention span - changes four times per minute

This has to do with continuity of thought. Anyone aware they have a very short attention span which can be measured more in seconds vs minutes? Experiences? Part of this idea is about whole vs parts, doing math (working with digits longer than three digits), reading (working with words four syllables or longer in length). Insights?

Distractible
Able to automatically tune out most normal distractions

Distracted (involuntary)
On Task (normal, automatic)

Digit span
Letter span

Short-term memory

vs Medium-term memory
vs Long-term memory

and so on
