In the UK, a person can legally change their name by deed poll. No real need for any custom.

In Poland you can change your name too - but I think it's only when it's silly sounding or something - or this is at least the rule concerning your LAST name, this is what I know for sure about changing one's last name. But you are obviously allowed to change your first name as well, I'm only not sure about the rules, if in this case you need any serious explanation, other than just "I don't like my name".

It reminds me of a joke:

A man wants to change his name so he goes to the registry office and says:

"I want to legally change my name."

"And what is your name?"

"John Butt."

"Then you don't need to explain why you want to change it. What name would you like to have then?"

"James Butt."

My grandpa is called Quinto which means fifth in spanish, because he was the fifth child.

My brother-in-law changed his name by deed-poll to W X. Thats right, Forename W, Surname X

I am a David. Some people say that David is "common" but I prefer to call it "popular" And no, I don't respond to Dave.

I have an aunt Marina and there is the actress Marina Sirtis (councilor Troy from Star Trek T,N,G

I have a dog called Blacksmith, because every time I kick him he makes a bolt for the door! :lol:

My mum has a very rare and unusual name, "Feleena", which is the name of someone in a song called "el paso" and my grandad liked the song so much he named my mum after the Feleena in the song.

on late night with david letterman back in the 90s they had a canadian guest named gerald assman. the whole segment was about dave kidding the poor man about his name. but the name assman is not uncommon in some places up in the great white north, as when i worked in a maternity ward we had another canadian patient whose last name was assman.

haha it would have been fun uh?
but no, only the third child, she was called Tercina (similar to tercera which means third).
Oh and i think "primo" is italian for first, in spanish it's "primero".

Primo is definitely a name (albeit rare) but I've never heard of a Primero...
