We've talked about mankind and womankind, let's talk animals. I feel, that every cat and dog, should be living indoors, with their families. I also feel that snakes should be put on vegetarian diets, so that all the rats can live a full life. :O)

The only rights animals should have is the right to not be abused. Being eaten is not animal abuse. It's the natural course for many species, and a way to keep populations in check.

You guys are right, about the snakes. Not feeding them rats, would almost be like abuse.

It would be abuse because you would essentially be starving the snake to death.

Possibly, but I have also heard it said the edible ones have a right to be eaten ... and that thought can lead to considering the vast difference between the chicken's and the pig's contribution to a ham-and-egg breakfast.

But to the OP's point:

I occasionally see cats roaming across my yard and wish they did not have to live that way, and my wife and I do care for the one we have inside -- it was "temporarily" left in our care a long time ago -- even though I believe no animal ever belongs inside a home for humans. But far beyond the occasional stray cat or dog any of us might see somewhere, the southwestern states are now being overrun with monstrous wild pigs that are going to have to be dealt with somehow ... and none of them are named "Arnold" ("Green Acres").

All animals should be granted full citizenship, including suffrage, property rights, and the rights to marry and drive vehicles. But only if they agree to pay taxes like every other law abiding citizen.

Sure, and that is one way certain deer populations are held in check.

Yes. Being eaten isn't abuse. It's nature. It's a way to keep populations in check. Besides, some animals, like cats can't survive on vegetarian diets. They HAVE to have meat in their diet. IMO, putting them on vegetarian diets is abuse, as it is not good for them, and causes them medical issues, as well, like blindness, and heart problems. And research also suggests some birds also need taurine for healthy development.

The animals eaten in the west are not rounded up from some wood somewhere-
They are purposely bred by the millions specifically to be eaten, to much destruction of the environment and the decimation of other predator species that threaten livestock.

It's actually not true that any species REQUIRES meat. Nutrition is what matters, not the source. With fortified pet food, no meat is required. I'm mommy to a big sweet tom who eats vegan pet food, and is in excellent health.
