I've been getting back into it again with my DSLR - but I want to track down a film SLR such as an Canon EOS A2E or Elan series. I have a Canon AE-1 Program laying around but manual focus sucks for anything that is moving...

I love photography too, but I am not that good at it. I do have some neat old cameras that I would like to do a photoproject with.

A few of my cameras are:

Rolleiflex twin lens reflex (medium format)---I have never used it
Minolta X700 SLR
Argus C3 (restored professionally to near mint)---I have never used it
Argus C33
Nikon N80 SLR
Sony digital camera

^^Greetings LiberalJustice. I believe that I do indeed enjoy photography and have very recently purchased a happy Nikon D3000 camera. I am very sorry as I believe I am not very skilled

I've been out of it for the summer due to depression and stress. I'm trying to get back into it.

You can see some of photos at my deviant art in my sig.

That is a neat idea in using photographs for your reference material. I did that once with a Bob Ross paint set. I had taken pictures of my great great grandfather's log cabin in Kentucky and then did the painting. Wow, that was harder to do than I thought it would be. What kind of subjects do you like to paint?

I do portraits, landscapes, flowers and stills, among other kinds of creative work. Photography is an art in itself and very enjoyable. Your log cabin scene sounds really nice. I have one like that but is the back of a house I once lived in with an elevated deck, apple trees and perennial gardens which I did in watercolor. I hope you do more when you get the chance if you find it enjoyable. But yes, it does take a great deal of ambition to create a successful painting. It's always a tremendous challenge, but one I enjoy. Thank you for asking.

I may be on the train soon enough. I bought a Pentax K-x last night, I have a big vacation plan booked in January and I figured I'd need a good camera. Matching ISO, aperture, and shutter time seems pretty straightforward but I'm sure the ratios are something you only figure out as you go. Hopefully I'll get enough practice in in the next few weeks that it'll be second nature by the time I'm out there :).
