basically to give them up is to give up being "human"

whether that is a good thing or a bad thing depends on the individual.

Without getting too detailed - as with almost anything else, in the right place in the right degree anything is positive. Sin comes in not when you take a nap, nut when you loaf at the wromg time and place.
