No they didn't, and the whole thing sounds fake to me. I can't believe that some people talk about sex with their kids, what on earth could they possibly discuss. I don't really believe in sex, to me it is up there in the category of fantasy, along with aliens and witches and dancing for rain. I've watched porn, but the idea that real people do that doesn't really fit inside my brain. I believe in sex as a scientist, i have theories about it and i think i know more about it than anyone else, but as soon as i get out of my scientist mindset, it sounds so unreal.

The day my sister turned up pregnant my father took me and my brother to buy condoms. That's the closest he ever got to the subject. I had the box for a day wondering what the hell am i gonna do with this? For how long should i keep it? I left it in the zoo a few days later.

When i was fifteen, a four year old girl tried to touch my penis but i didn't let her. When i was 25 i went to a prostitutes place , but all i saw was people talking. I can't chat so i just drank a beer and made my way out. That's my entire sex life right there.

No, they didn't.
When I was 14 my older sister became pregnant, she was sixteen. I remember my mother coming to me and saying that she supposed I was pregnant also (I'd lost my period due to an eating disorder). A boy had french kissed me against my will a month before that and due to my ignorance I was sure that I must be pregnant also. It was a very disturbing time.
Then later when I was a little older I had some True Romance magazines I found and was reading, they were under my bed. My mom found them while she was cleaning. When I got home, she said "Well, I guess you know everything now". That was it. The articles weren't very explicit, so I was still pretty naive until we had a very explicit presentation in nursing school on sex.

My parents told me the mechanics of sex around age five or six. From then on I'd join in on the conversations my dad would have with my sisters about friends, relationships, sex, dating, etc. Though by age 7 or 8 I still thought that every time a woman got pregnant, the doctors would make a large incision across her stomach (abdomen) to get the baby out. That's probably why I still fear pregnancy to this day. I remember telling my parents, asking how did people have babies before doctors without dying every time, and eventually they figured out my confusion to correct the mistake.

I received the speech when I was in elementary school. I remember telling my fellow peers; "did you know that your penis goes in a vagina to have a baby?" on the playground. Nobody believed me. I tried to warn them, now they have children!! 8)

Ooh someone's had a bad experience with women. Bitter or what

I'm doing the same for my children. Normalize, educate, and don't make sex dirty and your children will be less likely to have an unhealthy attitude towards sex.

that's really awesome, making them feel comfortable with something that's completely normal, and not taboo. I think the reason it was so awkward with my parents was our relationship and how we just sort of avoided talking about things.

Also, for some reason, my parents still think I'm completely untouched. We'll be at the doctor's or something...

Nurse: *to me* Any chance you might be pregnant?
Dad: Only if there's another miracle.
Me: *biting my tongue to keep from laughing*

My mom tried to. She got me this little book about it and one day I was bored so I went ahead and read it without her. She told me later that she wanted us to read/discuss/whatever together. I learned most from girl's magazines. I still don't know everything about it, I just recently learned some stuff I needed to know about protection.

Sexual topics are extremely uncomfortable for my parents, so everything I learned about sex I learned through books and the Internet. I first learned about it when I was about 8-10 years old. I had checked out a book about pregnancy from the school library, and it had a chapter about conception. I remember feeling so shocked that I didn't sleep for two days after reading it.

Nowadays, having been a denizen of the Internet for so many years, nothing phases me anymore.

Yeah - that was how it was for me as well. I do remember having a "big talk" from my aunt about periods, however, but she wanted to explain to me why my sister couldn't go swimming with us (I was quite young at the time).

My mom did tell me about sex from an early age, starting with "good touch, bad touch" and when I was going through puberty, what periods were so I wasn't scared when I started having them. I even told her when I had my first one, so she bought me my own supply of items. She also told me that babies were made when the man puts his penis in the woman's vagina. When I was starting high school, she also mentioned the importance of waiting until I was ready, and also about protection.

The first time I had an erection (I was watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer) I went downstairs to my dad, pointed and asked what was happening to me. He left the room, to the kitchen where my mom was and said, "Honey I'm going to the store. Do you need anything?"

He never answered the question. But I found myself wanting to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer a lot.

Well no, my parents didn't talk about sex to me. They didn't have to. In another thread I already explained that my first book was something like 'Mayo's Clinic Guide To Healthy Pregnancy' which I read for the first time at the age of 4. My mother can't remember that I ever asked a question about what's been in the book and considering that at the time my brother was in high school and I did love to read his biology textbooks too, I assume I got the things right very early.
Anyway, I can't remember a time when I didn't know how children came (and the ways not to let them come if you don't want to) and I did a lot of explaining the subject matter to my bewildered classmates in primary school - and also to the no less bewildered teachers
Then there was a rather humorous incident when a relative of mine who came to visit asked me if my parents had told me how babies came. I promptly said no, and it was true, it would have been pointless anyway. So the outraged relative treated me to a lecture about the birds and the bees while my mother was trying to stifle a fit of hysterical laughter in the next room.

They never talked to me about it. When I asked them about it they changed the subject.
