I read in a newspaper blurb called "News of the Weird" a while back, the jist of which was how
India Scott of Detroit simultaneously dated Brandon Ventimeglia and Darryl Fletcher in 1993, and in 1994 she had a male newborn. Each man was ignorant of the other, and Scott told each that he was the father. For two years, Scott managed the men's visitation rights without divulging each man to the other, but the jig was up in March 1997 when she announced she was marrying a new boyfriend and moving away, so both Fletcher and Ventimeglia separately filed for custody, at which point the men finally discovered each other. In May 1997, they took paternity lab tests to settle the father question definitively. but you all knew already, that the test revealed that the genetic father was yet another man.

so to all you lonely male WP'ers lamenting your singleton state, remember that for every downside there is an upside as well.

HA! That story made me laugh. I'd never heard anything like that before. Pretty scary.

Actually, I've been paranoid about women ever since my first girlfriend (a bit older than me, and in want of a quick marriage and green card, apparently) freaked me out with a pregnancy scare (trick?). She told me "oh, you don't need to wear a condom because I'm taking birth control pills for my irregular period, so I won't get pregnant". So, like a young fool, I believed her. Next thing you know "I think I may be pregnant", etc.

Boy, that put the kibosh on THAT relationship! I was like "WHAT??? You said you were taking the pill!" "I was, but it's not 100%.." "You're gonna ruin my life - I'm only 19 years old for Chrissake! I don't have a college degree, let alone a career or anything! You better not be pregnant, and if you are, you better take care of it - what do you expect me to do???" "I thought you loved me blah blah blah"

AUGH!! !! ! Horrifying. To this day I don't know for sure what the situation was or what happened, and I don't want to.

Sometimes I think maybe the old morality WAS better.... no porn, and you marry the first person you fall in love with at a young age, and no option to divorce or remarry or have any kind of sex outside of marriage... your parents help raise your kids while you complete school, get established, etc... is that better? Maybe! Aren't people in traditional societies happier? Aren't the kids happier, with two loving parents instead of divorce, step-parents, etc.?

So confusing. My parents had a horrible relationship, and ended up going through a horrific divorce. I decided at age 12 that I wanted no part of marriage, ever.

Relationships were no easy back then and when they did stray they got stoned for their troubles.

I don't know why people seek out these horror stories and negative views of women just to try and console themselves and pretend that their involuntary celibacy is something that they're "choosing".

If there were really no desire, there'd be no bitterness from that desire being stifled, and with no bitterness there'd be no reason to take any interest whatsoever in these negative views, and no reason to try and hold them as evidence that relationships are better kept out of mind. True asexuality would come with security and no need to lie to oneself or struggle to persuade oneself that they do not want a mate.

Either forget about the urge or act on it. Don't cling to it while at the same time pretending you have no interest in it.

This is why Tom Leykis says every birth should have a paternity test! Parents need to take responsibility for children they create, and this includes not denying a child the right to know who his father is and obtaining support from the father. Wanna be promiscuous? Fine, but is it too much trouble to keep the possibilities down to no more than maybe 3 or 4 guys, and know them well enough to know who they are and where to find them again before having sex with them? I see no room for excuses here.

I dont think this is a negative view of women. Women will always have a drive toward the more capable man, it an ancient drive encoded in their genes to help the offspring survive.

Saying 'watch out' from an elder male to the youngsters, is a kindly piece of fatherly advice, that most people in society are denied knowledge of by the PR machine.... Thanks Blabby

Woman finding fault with that, and wishing to suppress that information from others, I imagine may not feel comfortable about their own genetic programming and sexual urges? And what of the youngsters, who need to hear it the most? Males and females?

Its just a fact, not a slur. Men are also programmed, but to be always ready to inseminate a willing female....

Marrige is a waste of time I feel sorry for people who feel the need to tie themselves down.
