How are we sure plants have no feelings?

The only reason we have empathy (or should I say, "neurotypicals have empathy"?---hmm...) in the first place is because it's in your best interest to be aware of the feelings of those who can hurt you if they're displeased.
Hm, that's a little disconcerting. You honestly believe that?

It does make some sense, especially when you think in terms of tribes or small close knit communities. It's in their best interest to work together, and empathy comes in to play well there. The weaker/less socially acceptable have to learn how to please the leaders/bullies in order to survive. Many of our instincts boil down to surviving, it's just harder to understand in our present day arrangements.
