It was a spherical chocolate-coated candy with sweetarts or other treats inside that came with a sticker. I used to love these! I haven't seen them on the market since I was, like, twelve. :(

Hello Descartes. I must be in the wrong country then because I don't remember these. As a boy, I never had Wonder Balls.

They were only marketed in the United States. You really missed out.

:D The marketing gimmick for Wonder Balls was great too because it piqued the interest of kids. The mystery, the true excitement of wondering what was in a Wonderball made me want to the buy them....or ya know beg my parents to buy them for me. I definitely remember the commercial as well.

They were on a list of most dangerous children's toys over at the comedy website Cracked.com. It said that kids choked on the little toys inside them. Also, the commercial for Kinder Surprise isn't awesome like the one for Wonder Balls. In fact, it's downright creepy:

There used to be toys inside Wonder Balls, but that was discontinued once the manufacturers received complaints over the choking hazards. They replaced the toys with candies.

Why did they stop selling them? How could something so wonderful not have a high rate of demand? When I bought Wonder Balls, I couldn't even find them at regular grocery stores. They were only at the commissary.

It was sold to another company in 2004, which stopped manufacturing it. Here's a Wikipedia article on it:

In my country we have those. The Wikipedia article says they are sold all over the world but the States. In my preteens I used to collect the surprise egg toys (here they are commonly called surprise eggs) - I remember I had a violet hippo, the math teacher from the crocodile teachers edition (I wanted to collect all the teachers but I got only her), a toy orange rubber stamp with a mouse, the Charlie Brown and Snoopy toys, a lead soldier figure, a plane and some others I don't remember now. But I loved those.
