Lots of computer geeks here, any science geeks around?

Anyone interested in starting a serious scientific discussion thread either about autism or science in general? It can be either hard science or science policy. I am open to suggestions if anyone has an interest.

I have nearly finished my second year of my BSc, majoring in Physics and Astronomy.

what field of science do you like?

Inventor, would Skeptic be a better word? that's the word I have heard being used for people who question everything, in particular on the JREF forum.

In particular, I absolutely love Astronomy. I find all the planets, moons, asteroids, comets, stars, nebulae, galaxies, etc. interesting, and amazing.

Can you add math to the list?

It's hard to have much of a discussion on math, unless you're proposing to do some sort of turorial-style thread.

not sure if interested in discussions since they can not get very deep. to have a high quality discussion people need to invest lots of time and energy and that usually doesn't happen if science is not your job.
i get more by googling from bits here and there, and reading papers myslef. lately from some posts to ted talks.

I don't think the poster meant that in a critical way, if that's what you're reacting to.

I think math is the coolest thing ever, but I agree I don't know how to "discuss" it in a forum like this.

"Hey, what do you think of those prime numbers? Pretty hot stuff, eh?"

I'm being facetious, and I don't mean to make light of your suggestion. Maybe you could start it off, and see where it went ...

I have my doubts about the Skeptics. They seem to be playing debunker.

Science and math geek here. Up for discussions in any area of science, even if I don't know too much about the field, I would still be interested in learning about it. Also the philosophy of science (methodology, etc.) is good for discussion.

I am terrible with computers! I often post neuroscience questions on this forum. I'm a bio-psych major (undergrad) and slightly obsessed with neuroscience. I guess it's kind of ironic that I'm no good with computers given that neural network paradigms are so big now in brain science.=)

I like science.
