michael myers is the original slasher just like the simpsons is the original cartoon comedy. then jason voorhees rips off michael, just like family guy ripped off the simpsons. freddy krueger was INSPIRED by michael just like south park was INSPIRED by the simpsons.

I think that kind of thing happens with every new revolutionary idea. That's how genres are born.
