In the USA, are Italian Catholic Churches under a Nazi/Fascist type religious edict/spiritual order from the politician Pope of Italy not to ever use the words: President Barack Obama in any USA Catholic Church today (2010)? In most USA Italian Catholic Churches today, words such as the USA - the United States - George Washington, Washington, D.C., President Barack Obama are never (or rarely) uttered ever. This is very strange and implies a kind of political attempt to overthrow the USA and replace it with a foreign Church headquartered in Europe. Why are Italian Catholics in the USA so afraid of the words: President Barack Obama?

Sounds like a typically bad anti-Catholic conspiracy theory.

Please document this assertion.

The priest in my Catholic church VOTED for President Barak Obama, so I'd say you are upstream without a paddle on this speculation.

The hierarchy of the Catholic church is full of individuals who all have the right to apply the doctrines promoted by the church in any way they like, as long as it isn't outrageous. Sometimes there could be a little pressure to move one way or another, but officially the church tries to stay separate from particular political candidates (positions are another matter, on that they might get vocal, but even then Catholic doctrine has a hard time allowing them to unabashedly support any one US candidate or party, since the church is quite socialist in its teaching, and while the church is anti-abortion, it is also anti-capital punishment, and it is also highly pro-universal health care).

Sure you aren't confusing Catholics with some more fundamentalist protestant group?

It's true that the Catholic church rarely mentions specific political figures, but that's likely because they wisely adhere to the general principle of separation of church and state.

Actually, I think that the Catholic Church does not adhere to the separation of church and state.

Only when forced to. The people who run the Roman Catholic Church really believe they are doing God's work and that confers a privilege upon them. In return for doing God's work, the priests get to bugger altar boys.

i think it's more complex and simpler than that.

i think that a catholic pedophile could see salvation in the priesthood. a vow of celibacy is exactly the course of action i would expect a god-fearing pedophile to take. couple that with endless study of god's will and constant surroundings of the pious and you have what could be perceived as a safe lifestyle.

of course, when god does nothing to cure their urges and they, having never actually addressed the problem, act on them, salvation is still not lost. confession and penitence absolves the pedo-priest of the responsibility to secular society for their crimes as god is a higher authority.

from this perspective, absolution can be more dangerous than the crimes absolved.

i doubt there are more than a handful of priests who feel that they've earned the right to "bugger alter boys." certainly this is not something that is thought of as acceptable among catholic laity, though it does, certainly, appear to be accepted among catholic laity.

The Church leadership in the United States trends Republican. Officially, the Catholic Church is big on social-justice issues, but the bishops have tended to make abortion and homosexuality their main issues, and there's even been a Catholic Thomist theologian who's tried to bring the Church and the Republican Party closer together (even justifying free-market laissez-faire capitalism through dogma and theology). Of course, Michael Moore had the bishop of Detroit talk about the evils of capitalism, but that's an exception to the rule. The Church does not officially anyone to vote Republican because that would remove its tax-exempt status, but today's Catholic Church is definitely quite comfortable with the GOP (Newt Gingrich converted to Catholicism, for example, which probably also helped bring the leadership of Church and Party closer together).
